Artist Bios/ CV
Jess Rowland is a sound artist, musician, and composer, and a 2018-20 Princeton Arts Fellow. Much of her work explores the relationship between technologies and popular culture, continually aiming to reconcile the world of art and the world of science. She has developed techniques for embedded sound and flexible speaker arrays and her research includes music perception, auditory neurosciences, and music technologies. In addition to an active art practice, she teaches Sound Art at Princeton University and The School of Visual Arts in New York and continues to present her work internationally.
Aimee Norwich is a musician, inventor, filmmaker, instrument builder, and visual artist. Her education is in jazz studies, audio production, and room acoustics. She plays a Hybrid Bass/Guitar, Fretless Bass, Piccolo Bass, Baritone Ukulele, Tenor Guitar, and Electric Bass, along with various FX pedals and loop stations. She builds instruments such as her Tabletop Onestring Bass, and BASS Kit, as well as tube microphones, preamps, and various electronic gadgets.
